Health and sensors · Appsens
For Appsens, we designed and built the patient and doctor apps that collect data from the ECG247 sensor. Patients get feedback along the way, and the GP sees the detailed data.

An estimated 150,000 people in Norway live with atrial fibrillation, and a third of them do not know it. The condition comes and goes, which makes it hard to catch with measurements that last only a few minutes. Appsens developed a wireless sensor that records heart rhythm for one to two weeks.
We designed and built the mobile app that connects to the sensor, collects the data and sends it on to a health data backend. The app, the sensor and the backend analyse the data as it comes in, and the user gets feedback straight away.
Most users are over 60. The patient side is therefore visual and simple, and the guidance explains what is happening. The app shows sensitive health data, so it has to feel safe to use. Notifications, response times and design are tuned so the user understands what is going on throughout.
When the test is complete, the patient sees the result in the app and can send it to their GP. With the patient’s consent, the GP gets access to the data, with a more detailed view than the patient sees. That gives a better basis for the conversation and the treatment.
