A mobile intranet for everyone working at the airports

The challenge
Avinor runs most of Norway’s airports, and at every airport people from many companies work side by side. They need the right information to do their jobs, and they need to work together across companies. The information was spread across intranets, extranets and separate services.
Today’s feed
Everyone working at the airport has access to the Today feed in Avinor Community. Operational messages, news, flight data and weather are shown according to each employee’s role.
Tools moved into the app
Tools that used to live only on intranet and extranet pages have been rebuilt for mobile, with a focus on usability and performance.
One layer for many data sources
The companies at the airport need different information, and it comes from many sources. We built a middle layer, an API Gateway, that collects information from the different services. It makes new services quicker to roll out and reduces risk when something changes.
